Judging by the 'Our executive team' page of First Great Western's website there have been a lot of comings and goings among FGW senior management of late. (See: http://www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk/Content.aspx?id=1178) I'm particularly sad to bid farewell to interim HR director Dawn Murphy, however there are a lot of newcomers to say hello to. New customer services director James Burt, new head of communications Sue Evans and lots of others too dull to mention.
But as I trawled this particular page of the FGW site, one name caught my eye; that of new human resources director Sheridan Flavin. Goodness, what a wonderful sounding name that is. Say it with me: Sheridan Flavin. Sounds like a particularly rich, warm alcoholic chocolate drink...or maybe a brand of upmarket pet food. "I love my dog, so I feed him only the very best: new improved Sheridan Flavin."
Unfortunately Sheridan's yet to pop her picture up on the site, but I'm betting she's going to be a bit of a looker. And hers is such a idiosyncratic name, I'd thought I'd run it through a Google search. And wouldn't you know, there's a Sheridan Flavin from near Bristol on a forum looking for a neuro linguistic programming (NLP) practice group in her area. (http://www.performancepartnership.com/docs/forum/discussion.php?messageId=934)
I guess Sheridan's into a spot of the old NLP. I don't know if this is the same Sheridan Flavin now working for First Great Western. but this is what the NLP training company in question says about itself:
"Our belief is that all of our students are truly magnificent and can create the life of their dreams."
Clearly they've yet to encounter to magnificent ineptitude that is First Great Western...but maybe soon, particularly if that is indeed the same Sheridan. Who can say?
But I for one am betting that particular firm of NLP trainers is already rubbing its hands with glee and calculating just how fat a fee to charge when it makes that initial trip down to sunny Swindon.
